The Zionist and racist Israeli army unleashed new aggression against the heroic Palestinian people. This Friday, the Israeli air force started massive bombings against the Gaza Strip, called “Operation Dawn”. It left 15 Palestinians killed, among them a five-year-old girl and the commander of the military forces of the Islamic Jihad in the north of Gaza, Tayseer al Jabari, and over 70 wounded.
The Zionist state of Israel had been in a heightened state of alarm for several days after Israeli military forces arrested Bassam Saadi, a senior Islamic Jihad leader in Jenin, killing a Palestinian teenager. The Palestinian organisation vowed to retaliate.
It is a new escalation of criminal violence by Israel against the Palestinian people. A series of ongoing attacks and shelling against the population of the Gaza Strip, the latest of which had taken place in May last year with 255 Palestinians killed, and extensive damage to the already weak infrastructure of services in the Strip.
The Islamic Jihad reported that Israeli attacks met with the firing of over 100 rockets into Israel.
From the International Workers’ Unity – Fourth International, we repudiate these new criminal bombings by the Zionist Israeli State against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
From the IWU-FI, we consider that there is no way out or future for the Palestinian people by sustaining a utopian “peaceful coexistence” with the two-state formula. Only with a single, secular, democratic and non-racist state in Palestine can there be peace in the region.
We call on the peoples of the world to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and to raise the demand to their governments to break off relations with Israel.
Stop the bombing of Gaza, free all Palestinian prisoners, free all Palestinian prisoners, and out imperialism from Palestine and the whole Middle East!
