Foreword
This new edition of International Correspondence is largely dedicated to the resistance of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the global condemnation of the Zionist genocide.
In particular, we highlight the heroic action of the Global Sumud Flotilla, led by renowned activist Greta Thunberg, which is heading to Gaza with humanitarian aid. It is the largest solidarity flotilla ever assembled. They will attempt to break Israel’s criminal blockade.
This edition also includes articles on the situation in the US and the electoral debacle of the far-right Milei government in Argentina.
There was no space to highlight the latest mass rebellions against governments that impose austerity and repression, such as the cases in Indonesia, the protests in France, or the social uprising in Nepal.
In Nepal, the spark that ignited the popular uprising was the suspension on 4 September of 26 social media platforms, including YouTube, X, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The ban on social media was interpreted by popular sectors, particularly young people, as an attempt at censorship and to curb criticism of the government.
Thousands of protesters stormed the parliament building in defiance of the government’s declared curfew, setting it on fire. Popular anger, accumulated over years of unfulfilled promises, frustration over abysmal wages, unemployment, and rampant corruption, erupted with the suspension of social media. Protesters attacked and burned the homes of some officials perceived as corrupt. The Minister of Economy was thrown naked into a river and beaten by protesters (see article “Popular angererupts in Nepal” by Miguel Angel Hernandez on uit-ci.org/index.php/2025/09/11/popular-anger-erupts-innepal/?lang=en).
Capitalist governments around the world look at themselves, worried and frightened, in the mirrors of Nepal or Indonesia. The high levels of exploitation and impoverishment of the people, while a minority of the ultra-rich is becoming increasingly wealthy, are preparing new popular rebellions around the world.
