The chemical company TI Brazil Industry and Commerce, part of the TI Automotive group/TI Fluid Systems, announced the closure of the factory in São José dos Campos/SP until December or around January 2021. The decision took workers by surprise and generates indignation because the company does not communicate the reason for the decision. The maximum that was mentioned in previous meetings with the Chemicals Union was the high dollar and the difficulties with the pandemic of COVID-19.
The workers and the Chemicals Union do not accept that the working class pays the cost of the crisis of this pandemic. It is the obligation of the federal, state and municipal governments to maintain jobs. It is not possible that at the slightest sign of a reduction in profit or another crisis in the system, workers will be punished with the loss of jobs.
The workers crossed their arms on July 13 in a fight against the company’s statement. We cannot accept paying for the cost of this pandemic or the systemic crises of capital. In defense of jobs! In defense of the jobs of male and female workers that generated so much profit for this company.
After the mobilization of comrades, the company met again with the Union. However, the negotiation has to move towards preserving jobs. It is not possible for companies to use the pandemic to close units, transfer production, impose wage losses and, in partnership with the federal, state and municipal governments, apply withdrawal of labor rights.
We are in a pandemic! Now is not the time to profit! It is time to preserve the life and integrity of workers! Join this campaign! No to the factory closing!
