06 October 2022. In the city of Buenos Aires, Mercedes de Mendieta, national leader of the Socialist Left/IWU-FI, took over as the city’s legislator. She swore on behalf of the fallen comrades of the SWP (predecessor organisation to the Socialist Left) during the last military dictatorship, by women and dissidents and the working class. In addition, in the framework of an international campaign of the feminist movement and in an act of solidarity with the rebellion of the Iranian women and people, she cut a lock of her hair.
