18 August 2025. Deputies from the Left Front filed a complaint in Comodoro Py (federal courthouse location) against the Israeli prime minister, accused of war crimes. They rejected his visit to the country at the invitation of President Javier Milei.
The Federal Courts of Comodoro Py received a criminal complaint against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of genocide against the Palestinian people. The Socialist Left deputies sponsored the initiative in the Left Unity Front, Mercedes de Mendieta and Juan Carlos Giordano, along with Mercedes Trimarchi, a Buenos Aires legislator.
The lawsuit demands the arrest of Netanyahu if he enters the country. President Javier Milei invited him in September. “We repudiate Milei for having invited him. We say, ‘not in our name.’ Netanyahu out of Argentina,” the legislators stated, also demanding the severance of diplomatic relations with Israel.
The International Criminal Court seeks Netanyahu, accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the use of starvation as a method of warfare and attacks against civilians in Gaza. “If he sets foot on Argentinian soil, we must arrest him immediately,” they stated.
The complaint is based on Argentina’s adherence to the Rome Statute, which grants legitimacy to collaborate with the International Criminal Court. “Our country has the autonomous power to request Interpol to arrest Netanyahu and hand him over to the ICC,” they stated.
Finally, the legislators reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian cause and for international initiatives seeking to break the humanitarian blockade of Gaza. “We support the flotillas that will depart from Spain and Tunisia to deliver humanitarian aid and demand a free Palestine, from the river to the sea,” they concluded.
