Trump’s “Peace Board” Seeks to Colonise Gaza

By International Workers’ Unity–Fourth International

26 January 2026. At the 56th World Economic Forum in Davos, surrounded by his acolytes, Donald Trump announced the creation of a “Peace Board” for Gaza, a new colonialist step in the besieged Palestinian cause. The Peace Board will seek to carry out a new phase of ethnic cleansing and advance the implementation of Resolution 2803 (2025), which the UN Security Council approved last November, and impose a Mandate—a foreign collegiate government monopolised by Donald Trump and imperialism. Its objective is to guarantee military intervention in Gaza, impunity for the genocidal Netanyahu and Israel, and to make multi-billion-dollar profits from the reconstruction of Gaza by transforming it into a luxury tourist zone under the name “New Gaza.”

Behind this pharaonic imperialist announcement, the goal is not “peace” but the creation of a colony with political and direct military intervention by imperialism, and to save Netanyahu by legalising the genocide and historical ethnic cleansing perpetrated by Israel.

Despite two and a half years of genocide, Trump, and Israel could not claim victory in their objectives of destroying the Palestinian people of Gaza and expelling its two million inhabitants. Palestinian resistance and the massive international mobilisation in their support prevented a political and military triumph for Israel and the United States and imposed unprecedented isolation on Netanyahu, securing a fragile and partial truce, which Israel does not respect, although it had to halt its massive bombing campaigns.

The sham peace agreement, the “Trump 20 Points for Gaza,” and UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025), far from guaranteeing a ceasefire, have allowed Israel to continue its genocidal attacks on Gaza. Despite the false promises, the Rafah crossing has remained closed, preventing necessary humanitarian aid and causing the deaths of three babies and others because of the harsh winter. It has killed more than 484 people and injured another 1,297 since the ceasefire came into effect on 10 October. Today, nearly one million people still lack adequate shelter, and 1.6 million face high levels of acute food insecurity, according to the UN.

This plan will not bring any peace because it aims to eliminate all the claims and rights of the Palestinian people, disarm the resistance, deny the right of return of millions of displaced Palestinians, and the historic claim to a Palestinian state, thus attacking their sovereign right to self-determination. These reasons ensure the plan will fail, and the resistance will continue. Far from bringing peace to Palestine and the Middle East, Donald Trump seeks to capitalise on the Israeli occupation to fortify the Middle East and recoup the $21.7 billion the US invested in arming Israel and securing the bombs that have destroyed Gaza and which they now want to rebuild through the real estate business of the powerful.

“New Gaza” and the Real Estate Business

The Trump Peace Council’s first aim is to guarantee mandated administration and the reconstruction of Gaza. Trump has appointed the Council’s Executive Board, comprised US Secretary of State Marco Rubio; Jared Kushner, the US president’s son-in-law; Steve Witkoff, a billionaire Jewish-American real estate developer; and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, among other billionaires linked to imperialism, Trump, and Netanyahu. To administer Gaza, Donald Trump appointed former UN envoy Nikolay Mladenov to act as Viceroy of Gaza. He also announced the formation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), a group of technocrats with no political power. Palestinian officials and former Deputy Minister of Planning Ali Shaath will head this group.

In addition, they are promoting the so-called Master Plan for Reconstruction, announced by Jared Kushner with blueprints and models that erase the Palestinian population. With this plan, they intend to steal and colonise the land and segment Gaza into various tourist, residential, industrial, and agricultural zones. On the Mediterranean coast, they plan to build 180 luxury skyscrapers, a new port, an airport on the border with Egypt, and 100,000 supposed homes in the Rafah area.

Israel has dropped up to 200,000 tons of US-funded explosives on Gaza, leaving more than 60 million tons of rubble, enough to fill nearly 3,000 container ships. Donald Trump seeks to make billions of dollars from the reconstruction and transform Gaza.

Gaza will become a new, more modern concentration camp with sophisticated controls to reinforce apartheid. Alongside it, the powerful will build a tourist and commercial center on the graves of thousands of murdered Palestinians still buried under the rubble.

Against Trump’s plan: sustain the global mobilisation for the Palestinian people

The Peace Council seeks imperialist control of Gaza and extends its objectives to the rest of the social and political conflicts sweeping the world within the context of growing global disorder and the crisis of imperialist domination. The Peace Council is a new institution created by Donald Trump and US imperialism—unilaterally paralleling the antiquated organisations created after World War II, such as the UN—with Trump’s aim at guaranteeing “lasting peace by force” to confront the rise of the mass movement. But despite having received the signatures of several countries, Trump has not garnered enough political support to translate rhetoric into action, and significant difficulties in implementing it are evident.

Trump’s plans remain unstable. Netanyahu agreed to join the Peace Council, but he insists that Hamas must disarm before reconstruction can start. His Nazi cabinet is proposing to resume military action, but Hamas has not yet achieved disarmament. Hamas rejects the reconstruction plan and denounces Israel’s ceasefire violations and the continued closure of the Rafah crossing. The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, the Sumud Global Flotilla, and has rejected the reconstruction plan and the Peace Council . The struggle of the Palestinian people and global solidarity will be crucial in preventing this new colonialist advance by the United States.

While the imperialist counteroffensive takes on new forms, the resistance of the world against plans of hunger, exploitation, and plunder continues. The massive mobilisations sweeping across the United States, such as the recent general strike and demos in Minneapolis against the murders committed by Trump and the fascist ICE, show that the working and migrant people of the United States and of the world are confronting imperialism and capitalist governments with their plans for cuts and austerity measures.

The International Workers’ Unity–Fourth International (IWU-FI) calls for strengthening mobilisations and deepening international solidarity with the Palestinian people until Israel expels the criminal and racist occupation and Trump’s colonial plan. Building a massive international movement to support Gaza and the Palestinian people and against Trump remains the fundamental task for fighters on every continent.
