5 September 2023. Mariupol is a Ukrainian coastal city on the Sea of Azov, which was noted for its resistance to Putin’s invasion before Russia took over.
The appeal from Mariupol reproduced here comes from the strike coordination committee, a clandestine structure, of course, given the repression by the Russian occupation forces.
Russia announced local elections on 10 September in the occupied Ukrainian territories.
Lately, the Russians have done nothing but swindle our Mariupol workers. They deprive them of their money!
We have fought for their right to be paid!
We start an indefinite strike on 10 September (election day)!
Campaign with your colleagues not to go to work if you work for these companies!
The strike is a powerful tool to draw attention to societal inequalities and negative phenomena. It manifests solidarity, will, and desire to change the status quo for the better. When people unite to protect their rights in case of occupation, a political strike against the occupier becomes a necessity. It gives us the opportunity to express our disagreement with conditions that unjustly restrict our freedom and self-determination. The strike is the voice of those who must live under the dictates of the occupier, deprived of human rights and national independence.
Do not allow yourselves to be powerless witnesses of the occupation and human rights violations. Join the political strike against the occupier and show that you are ready to fight for your rights and those of your people. Together we are stronger, together we will change the world for the better!
The list of companies that will go on strike:
– Ulyanovsk construction company Premium LLC (headed by Vladimir Vnukov)
– Kompaniya Arkhitektor, at Lunina Street 31 (general director Alexey Vladimirovich Dragilev)
– Construction company GAMAS
– Supplier Trinity
– Construction company Stroy Monolit
– Company Yumistroy
– Company Technostroy (head Denis Titov)
We ask all those who are not paid to write to us – your team can join us even if we do not mention your company!
We also call on taxi drivers, public transport drivers (for one day) and public service workers to join the strike on 10 September, the day of the by-election.
