12 June 2024. On Saturday, 8 June, we held the first IWU-FI Youth Conference for the heroic resistance of the Palestinian people. A worldwide student movement has spread from the USA to Europe and Latin America, with university takeovers and actions in Brazil and Chile.
As IWU-FI youth, we were the driving force behind many of these initiatives in our countries. We could organise an international youth forum to support student movements globally. To exchange experiences of how the struggle for Palestine is being organised in different countries to promote visible actions. To strengthen the IWU-FI and its youth campaigning for international unity against genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza by Israel’s Netanyahu government, aiming for a single, democratic Palestine.
We had youth leaders from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, and California, and an invitee from MST in the Dominican Republic. The speeches were simultaneously in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Comrade Shams from Palestine, comrade Maysan from Turkey, and a comrade from the USA sent important greetings. Key contributions from our international to promote the struggle and to send them our broadest solidarity. The presence of our comrades in person during the bi-modal discussion enriched our internationalism and promoted collaboration among young revolutionaries. This initial meeting, led by the youth, will serve as a starting point for future international youth initiatives to promote global growth. We all share a common goal of a workers’ government and a socialist world. And while the attacks on the Palestinian people by the genocidal state of Israel continue, the resistance continues. The Youth of the IWU-FI will persist in the struggle for a free Palestine.
