2 September 2025. Israel announced that it will treat the crew members of the international flotilla that departed from Barcelona with humanitarian aid to Gaza as “terrorists.”
Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir presented the Israeli government with a plan to halt the Global Sumud Flotilla. The plan requires moving sailors to Ketziot and Damon’s secure prisons, with strict rules. Authorities will deny activists special privileges such as television, radio, and special meals.
National Representative Juan Carlos Giordano of the Socialist Left in the Left Front-Unity is part of the international flotilla and addressed the threats from the “Sirius” vessel, which is sailing the Mediterranean Sea toward Gaza: “What the Zionist Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, said is outrageous. We are not terrorists; we are delivering humanitarian aid to a people suffering genocide. If there are those who use terrorist methods, it is precisely the State of Israel.”
Giordano concluded: “We call on all democratic institutions and people who defend human rights around the world, and in Argentina in particular, to be alert and repudiate the threats to detain us in maximum security prisons. We hold Israel’s genocidal government and NATO liable for anything that happens to the flotilla.
