Note: we approved this resolution at the VII Congress of the International Workers’ Unity-Fourth International in December 2020.
We are disseminating it in the current popular protests in Haiti, in which the mobilised people demand that Jovenel Moïse hand over power in February, when his constitutional mandate expires. We stand in solidarity with the Haitian people and their democratic struggle, repudiating the de facto government’s attempt to change the Constitution, create new repressive bodies and keep its clique in power through fraudulent elections, such as those that in 2016, with the support of UN occupation troops, brought Jovenel Moïse to power.
…
– Whereas since 2018, the Haitian people have staged several uprisings against the dictatorial government of Jovenel Moïse.
– Whereas the PHTK regime receives the support of imperialism through the Core Group composed of the US, France, Canada, the European Union, Brazil and other countries.
– Whereas the PHTK regime results from the pro-Yankee coup d’état of 2004 and was sustained between 2004 and 2017 by the UN military occupation with troops provided by Latin America pseudo-progressive governments.
– Whereas the Haitian regime is headed by a de facto government without parliament, repressive, allied to paramilitary groups, sustained by brutal repression.
We resolve
To support the struggle of the Haitian people against the dictatorial regime of Jovenel Moïse.
Support the struggle of the Haitian people against the Core Group and U.S. imperialism, defending their right to take their destiny into their own hands.
Out with Jovenel Moïse!
Internationalist solidarity with the struggle of the Haitian people!
For the elimination of the Haitian foreign debt and the payment of reparations by the U.S. and French governments for their crimes against the Haitian people!
